FBC LaPlace Church Family,

Hey everyone!

I am writing this right before heading out to spend time with some of our Senior Saints as we celebrate their birthdays at the church. We will enjoy lunch together with two of our Sunday School classes, and I am looking forward to the fellowship.

I hope you enjoyed our worship gathering this past Sunday. I continue to be encouraged by what God is doing in the hearts of our people. Normally, I am fully engaged in worship throughout the service, but over the past few weeks I have intentionally taken time to observe what is happening around me. It has been refreshing to see so many members of our church family worshiping the Lord with joy and sincerity.

As a pastor, that encourages my heart.

One of the things I love most is seeing our people pray together during our prayer time. I have noticed more people praying out loud, and I believe God is using that simple moment to help shape us into a praying church.

I am also thankful for Dylan and the leadership he brings to our worship gatherings. Beginning our services with a responsive reading from God’s Word has been a meaningful addition and helps focus our hearts on the Lord from the very beginning.

Another blessing is seeing the fellowship that takes place in our Welcome Center each Sunday. Relationships are being strengthened, first-time guests are being welcomed, and multiple generations are connecting with one another. That kind of genuine fellowship is a beautiful picture of the church.

I am also grateful for the freedom we are seeing as people respond at the altar. When God speaks through His Word and people respond in obedience, it is a reminder that He is actively at work among us. What a blessing it is to gather in His presence each week.

These are exciting days at FBC LaPlace, and I am thankful for what God is doing in our church family.

## **VBS**

One of the greatest opportunities we have each year to reach our community is Vacation Bible School, and we need all hands on deck!

If you have not signed up to volunteer, now is the time. Parents, if you have not registered your children, be sure to do that as well.

During VBS, we have four incredible days to share the love of Jesus through Bible stories, worship rallies, crafts, games, and snacks. We are excited about this year’s theme, **Rainforest Falls**, as we explore the nature of God together.

Registration is now open for both participants and volunteers. You can register by clicking [here](https://vbspro.events/p/fbcvbs26).

**July 13–16**
**8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.**
**Pre-K3 through 5th Grade**

We would love for your family to be a part of it!

## **Men’s Breakfast**

Men and boys of all ages are invited to join us for breakfast on **June 14 at 7:30 a.m.** in the Fellowship Hall.

A sign-up link was included in yesterday’s **Weekly** email so we can prepare enough food for everyone attending.

Men, come enjoy a great meal and a great time of fellowship together.

## **Serve Monroe Mission Trip**

I am excited about our upcoming mission trip to Monroe, Louisiana, on **August 21–22**.

One of our project teams is already full, but there are still plenty of opportunities to serve. Projects include block parties, painting, landscaping at schools, and other community outreach efforts.

If you would like to be a missionary this summer, please see a member of our church staff or Harold DeGruy for more information.

## **Summer Sermon Series**

I hope you enjoyed our recent journey through the life of Joseph.

As we move into the summer months, we will begin a new series through the Book of Psalms. Throughout the Psalms, you will often encounter the Hebrew word *Selah*, which means “pause.”

Summer can be busy and hectic, so our desire is to use the Psalms to help us pause, reflect, and focus our hearts on God and His Word.

I am looking forward to what the Lord will teach us through this study.

## **Disaster Relief Sunday**

This Sunday is Disaster Relief Sunday. If you serve in Disaster Relief ministry, please wear your yellow shirt to our worship gathering.

Thank you for being such a faithful church family. I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.

With Christ’s Love,
